Drive is aware of a Home Office’s announcement that there will be an additional £10million for domestic abuse perpetrator interventions as part of a package to respond to serious violent crime.
We have called for investment in work with domestic abuse perpetrators and this sounds like an important step forward. We look forward to hearing more detail about the fund.
Quality perpetrator work must always incorporate a quality victim response. We look forward to understanding how this fund will intersect with the other recent funding announcements to ensure domestic abuse perpetrators are better held to account and victims are safer. More than two women a week are murdered by their intimate partners, and though domestic abuse does not always come to the attention of the criminal justice system, it is absolutely right that it is considered as a significant part of serious violent crime.
